Tips On Budgeting
My tips on budgeting are designed for the multitude of people that are in financial strife, that I've come across in my years of consulting. I won't divulge any secrets or personal details, but man oh man, the difficulties people create for themselves. Even the 'savvy' ones. You can also use my tips on budgeting if you're in strife. The only hurdle here is to recognize and accept that you either may be or are in financial chaos...then do something about it So, how does someone who's in a financial mess and is so confident and sure about what they're doing, change their "wicked" ways? Shock therapy probably won't work. I've asked people to
set definite goals
as to exactly when they wish to get out of their troubles, but this won't work either. Unless you really BELIEVE that you can pay off your debts, the matter is simple. You WON'T. You see, the DESIRE to pay all your debts has to be the main thought you're thinking. And this requires focus. i.e. not on your troubles and woes. Focus. Focus on the thought of being debt free. Focus on owning a new car, a boat, going on your dream holiday. The moment you focus on the positive, you attract positive things. Focus on your problems and you'll attract negative things. Imagine if you're in a financial mess, then a budget won't help you unless you change your relationship to money. If you're thinking of negative things like, 'how am I going to pay my bills?' and ' how am I going to earn enough to eat as well?' and ' will there be enough to buy Christmas Presents?', then you'll attract those negative things into your life. You attract all those thoughts that you think to yourself. Those things that you don't want are also attracted to you and they resist any positive thoughts you may have had. The more you don't have and think about it, the more you won't have.
What's Your Monthly Spend?
Great tips on budgeting. Create a budget. I'll even give you a budgeting spreadsheet. However, the budget will mean nothing unless you change your way of thinking. Not surprising, but most of the people I saw over the years didn't have an exact account of how much money they were spending on day to day living expenses. If you've got tons of money, that's OK. Who cares? If you haven't got it, then the task of working out your monthly day to day living expenses isn't easy. In fact, it's a pain in the butt and can take up lot's of your precious time. Once you've done it, it'll at least give you a basis for focusing on your financial goals. Now this is the hard part - it's really one of my tips on budgeting. Actually, it's easy once you get the hang of it. You need to practice doing the following no matter how uncomfortable it may seem. Start with being grateful that the mortgage repayments(rent) is paid - even before you've paid it. This creates positive thoughts about this major payment and you'll find that come payment time the money will be there. Write the following statement out on a piece of paper before breakfast: "I am so happy and grateful now, that the mortgage payment is paid on time." Do you remember staying in school late and writing out..I won't throw chalk at the teacher - a hundred times. You're now going to build affirmations and write the above statement out twenty times, every morning. You can throw in other things that you're grateful for as well and watch your list grow day by day. It's amazing at how many things you begin to realize that you're grateful for. It puts a smile on your face and makes your day a happy positive day, then just watch your debts slowly disappear when the negativity goes out of your life. Next! Tips on budgeting - Focus on the mortgage being paid thought for at least 70 seconds every couple of hours. And please, make sure you don't let any negative thoughts about other debts creep in. I know this can be challenging. Especially if you've got your creditors hounding you over the phone. Block it out! Think only of the positive. You see, if you can really imagine that your mortgage is paid or you focus on the positive balance in your bank account, the longer that you can give your undivided concentrated focus on that one thought, then the universe is aligning itself to bring it your way. The moment negative thoughts creep into your consciousness, then they will resist and push away that what the universe has aligned itself to give you. That's why things don't go as we plan because we spend too much time thinking about the negative and not enough time about the positive to counterbalance the negative.
Enslaved by Debt
Remember, my tips on budgeting is only a tool to help you see how much you're spending. It will remind you, that if you're living in debt, you're indirectly working for the lending institutions. This is a sure way of making yourself feel bad, tired, listless, insignificant and negative. Yes, you're basically enslaved by 'bad' debt.
